Can Your Existing Pool Surround Be Resurfaced?
Often, yes—provided the existing hard surface is stable enough for an overlay. Gorilla Surfaces resurfaces external pool surrounds and pool decks across Adelaide. Stable concrete is usually the best fit, while suitable asphalt and stable pavers can also be considered after assessment.
We check for cracks or movement, levels and falls, drainage, moisture, access and door thresholds, plus how the existing surface meets the coping and pool edge. Loose, sinking or failed areas may need additional preparation or may not suit an overlay.
This service renews the hard surface around the pool, not the pool shell or interior, and does not include coping replacement. Where the base qualifies, it can be resurfaced without full replacement. Often, yes. An existing concrete pool surround may qualify when it is stable and the levels, cracks, drainage, edges and pool interfaces are suitable for an overlay. We assess the area before recommending resurfacing.
Possibly. The visible finish and the base beneath it both need to be stable, well supported and suitable for preparation. Send photos for an initial check; the final answer depends on the condition and construction of the existing surround.
Not if the existing base is suitable to retain. Resurfacing can avoid full replacement in qualifying areas, but loose, unstable or failed sections may still need preparation or removal. We confirm that scope before quoting.
The exposed aggregate gives the finish texture, but no outdoor pool surface should be described as non-slip in every condition. Wet performance depends on the selected finish, installation, drainage, contamination and maintenance. Gorilla Surfaces does not publish a specific AS/NZS slip classification without a relevant test report.
Surface temperature varies with the aggregate colour, direct sun, ambient temperature and time of day. We do not promise that an outdoor finish will stay cool in Adelaide summer conditions. Physical samples can help you compare lighter and darker blends before choosing.
Water can pass through the porous resin-bound finish, but the complete area's drainage depends on the existing base, falls, outlets and site design. An overlay over ordinary concrete is not automatically a fully permeable drainage system.
